Raise above your emotions - 1

EMOTIONS ! We all have it within us. And believe me or not, these "emotions" control most of our daily activities. Whatever actions we perform, are influenced greatly by the emotions within us. We develop these emotions over a period of time. The emotions perceived by an individual are different for different individuals. Rarely, we find any common emotions attached with two different persons. This is due to the individual differences. The different experiences by each individual are responsible for the difference in emotional levels. Consider an example of watching a movie. We all have our own choices when watching a movie (like action, adventure, romantic, comedy, drama etc). We tend to get attached to different genres depending on our emotions. A particular movie or a particular scene in a movie, may have pleasant or averse effects depending on the emotions present within us related to that particular scene or movie. We develop the emotions right from our childhood where we learn about things, develop ideas, thoughts etc. Such ideas and thoughts become instilled in our sub-conscious mind over a period of time due to repetitive exposure of such thoughts and beliefs.

Now if something happens which contradicts our thoughts, ideas and beliefs; then we tend to get sad and maybe even cry to show a sign of displeasure. Or vice-versa, if something turns out to be in exact fashion of our thoughts and which fulfills our expectations, then we tend to become happy. We should try that emotions should not rule our decisions in life. Many a times, emotions stand in the way of our success. Therefore, decisions need to be taken based on pure logic and benefit of all. However, in this materialistic world, humans tend to get attached with emotions, and there is no escape for a normal human to escape the clutches of emotions. However, we can certainly try to control them and raise above our emotional level.

The falling leaves

"Falling leaves" usually reminds us of the autumn. The leaves of the trees start shedding in this season and the roads are covered with leaves all over. This scene looks beautiful to many. It makes up for a romantic weather. These were the leaves which were once hanging on to the branches of the tree. Due to withering, they fall off.

Now, you will be surprised at this striking similarity between the shedding of leaves and a person quitting his bad habits. Consider a human. He has his own habits of doing things. Over a period of time, he acquires a learning experience from his surrounding. In this learning phase, he inculcates various habits within himself. Most of the habits form the routine, whereas few habits tend to change randomly. These are timely and temporary. Such temporary habits - i call them as "tembits" - are influenced by the people and environment surrounding us. We humans have this ability of adapting to various cultures and lifestyles. This unknowingly happens with us. Don't agree? Well, consider yourself. Look where you stand at present. Analyze your environment, people surrounding you, and the situations you face. You are presently at a point where you were directed with the factors i mentioned - Environment, People and Situations. These factors were a major reason for you to develop the tembits. However, as you move further and there is a change in your environment or you change the group of people you interact with or there is a change in the situations you face; this is the time when you drop your tembits or in other words, "shed your leaves". It is continuous but a prolonged process. You shed your leaves but also you know that you will be bearing new leaves soon enough.

The karmic cycle !

The "karmic" cycle, or in other words, the cycle of our actions. The "karma" in Hindu mythology, refers to the actions we perform - be it good or bad. It is said that whatever we get in our lives is purely based on our previous actions performed. We all must be aware of the famous proverb from our childhood - "As you sow, so shall you reap". That's exactly what i want to explain here.

How many times in our lives have we been dejected for the wrong happenings in our lives? How many times did we think that "WHY ME"? Many times. At-least for a normal human being on this planet earth. We may have been good to people recently and still the people have been grunting at us. Similarly, some people who have been really bad in their ways may escape getting good results in their lives. So what's wrong in us behaving in the same bad manner? Why not become bad as others? But we fail to recognize that the results we are getting may not necessarily be the fruits of our recent deeds. It may be related to a distant past where we may have been rude to others. Also, not necessarily, the people who have been bad and getting good results, will continue getting good results throughout their lives. Once the balance of good and bad karma destabilizes, the fate turns over you. You have to face the harshness if you have been harsh towards others. Similarly, you will be blessed with the goodness if you have been good with others. To explain it simple natural terms, when we were born in this world, we did not have any energy of our own. Whatever energy we possess is what we have got from this world, the nature around us. Obviously, the actions we perform are the result of the energy within us. Ultimately, no matter how much ever energy we possess, we have to return it back to this world. Everyone gets a chance in their lives to take a decision. A decision that will forever change their lives. Such decisions are usually taken by us considering our selfishness, to be frank. And seriously, there is no harm to be selfish in this cruel world. But also, care should be taken that our selfishness does not lead to the disruption in other people's lives. The decision we take should be in best regards to ourselves as well as others.

The cycle of karma - usually revolves around the "good" and the "bad". However, if i try to explain these things in details, many people would be confused. The reason behind this is that different people have different perception towards things. Like, what may be "good" to some might be "bad" to others, and vice-versa. Also, with this, fast changing world, the definition of "good" and "bad" has been changing rapidly.

To conclude, all i can say is "Good begets good. Bad begets bad." The fruits of our actions will be realized by us sometime in our lives, if not presently, maybe later in our lives, if not later in this life, maybe next life! But the cycle of karma continues and it won't stop for you, all what you can do is control your actions to cycle your life.
